The data presented below is the result of accompanying the survivors of the massacre that took place on the Spanish-Moroccan border between Melilla and Nador on 24 June 2022. Migrant communities, family networks and human rights defenders on the ground collected, contrasted and systematised necessary information.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n
Seven months have passed since the massacre at the border between Nador and Melilla where at least 40 people lost their lives (confirmed by our collective. The survivors’ accounts count up to 77 missing victims, of whom it is not yet known how many could be among the 40 confirmed victims).<\/p>\n\n\n\n
A month has passed since the Attorney General’s Office cleared the Spanish Interior Ministry, the Guardia Civil and the agents involved on the day of the tragedy, closing the investigation into the deaths on the understanding that they acted in a regular and proportional manner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To this day, both Morocco and Spain are blocking the relatives’ attempts to find out the truth, and the denial of the right to search for the disappeared and to identify the bodies found. We are faced with a permanent crime that was not only committed on that day against the people at the fence, but is committed daily against the families in the search for justice. Both the victims and their perpetrators, whose crimes have gone unpunished, know clearly what happened that terrible day at the Melilla-Nador fence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Este informe parte de la reconstrucci\u00f3n de los hechos realizada por las propias v\u00edctimas de la masacre a quienes hemos acompa\u00f1ado desde la tragedia. Los testimonios comienzan con el hostigamiento, la violencia y el despojo que ven\u00edan sufriendo los d\u00edas anteriores a la masacre en la valla. El trabajo da cuenta de la crisis humanitaria desatada despu\u00e9s, con profundas consecuencias f\u00edsicas, psicol\u00f3gicas y materiales para los supervivientes, sometidos a deportaciones y a procesamientos judiciales en Marruecos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
