The diversity of profiles has increased, with a growing presence of people from the <strong>Horn of Africa<\/strong>, particularly <strong>Somalia<\/strong> and <strong>South Sudan<\/strong>. This new reality presents major challenges for the <strong>protection of human rights<\/strong> in the region, especially the <strong>right to asylum<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To strengthen collaboration and share information, we have held <strong>meetings with public institutions<\/strong> in <strong>Ibiza and Formentera<\/strong>, including authorities responsible for <strong>migration and child protection<\/strong>. Eivissa i Formentera, terra de sortida i arribada\u201d<\/strong>, where our colleague <strong>Maroan Fartahk<\/strong> reflected on the past and present of migration, underlining its <strong>human and continuous nature<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In collaboration with the <strong>University of the Balearic Islands<\/strong> and its <strong>Faculty of Nursing<\/strong>, Caminando Fronteras also contributed to the university microcredential <strong>\u201cCare for Migrants upon Arrival\u201d<\/strong>, focused on the <strong>health and support of newly arrived people<\/strong>. The event brought together our team, academic staff, and health professionals, including a doctor from the Canary Islands who shared <strong>best practices<\/strong> from that region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/caminandofronteras.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/signal-2025-09-12-1030121-1024x576.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-44418\" srcset=\"https:\/\/caminandofronteras.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/signal-2025-09-12-1030121-1024x576.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/caminandofronteras.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/signal-2025-09-12-1030121-300x169.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/caminandofronteras.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/signal-2025-09-12-1030121-768x432.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/caminandofronteras.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/signal-2025-09-12-1030121-1536x864.jpeg 1536w, https:\/\/caminandofronteras.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/signal-2025-09-12-1030121.jpeg 1600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the same time, we continue to accompany the <strong>families of those who have died or disappeared<\/strong> along the <strong>Balearic route<\/strong>. In recent months, we have visited the <strong>cemeteries of Sant Josep, Sant Jordi, Sant Francesc, Sant Agust\u00ed, and Formentera<\/strong>, where we observed a worrying increase in the number of recovered bodies\u2014the highest recorded so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These visits have revealed serious challenges in ensuring <strong>dignified burials<\/strong>, <strong>spaces for Muslim individuals<\/strong>, and the identification of <strong>unnamed graves<\/strong>.
