Cheickhou Mangane

On board a zodiac, a very dangerous vessel on the Canary Islands route, he was with another fifty-one people when he disappeared. His family has been looking for him ever since.

Mbaye Mbengue

He disappeared on board a boat in which he was with Touba Diop. It is not known how many other people were with them.

Pape Demba Dieng

In August 2020, he was in Laayoune, last contacted by his family in October. He has been missing since then.

Balla Moussa Badji

He was in the military in Senegal and worked for a transport company in Morocco. His family has not heard from him since February-March 2020.

Ablaye Dieme

The last time his family contacted him, he had just arrived in Tangiers from Fez (Morocco) to try to cross from there. His family knows he boarded a boat, but they haven’t heard from him since.

Assane Ka

He wanted to cross, but it is unknown if he ever tried to. The last time his family contacted him was January 2019, but they are unsure about the specific day.

Mbene Diop

A young Senegalese woman, she died on the Strait of Gibraltar crossing at the young age of 21. A hairdresser, she had moved to Morocco to save money and undergo an operation that would allow her to become a mother. She was afraid of dying in the operating room in her native country, hence her need to reach Spain. Unfortunately, her body was found lifeless near the city of Algeciras (Spain) by the Spanish rescue services.

Babacar Ndiaye

He left Morocco at midnight with thirteen people on board. He was twenty-six when he disappeared. His brother is still looking for him.

Samba Baya

He felt that he could not help his family enough in their difficult situation, he worried about his parents, who were too old to continue working in the fields. Seeing that young people like him managed to improve these situations, he decided to leave after his mother gave him her blessing. It was the last time they saw him, after he died in the Tarajal tragedy. His father angrily points to the responsibility of the Spanish Government for the death of Samba. “There is nothing that can make up for the pain of the loss,” he argues.
